Digital health is often introduced in fragments, leaving many without the grounding to make sense of it.This is not a failure of individuals but a reflection of a field shaped by clinical, technical, and operational lenses that rarely converged. When foundations fragment, misunderstanding and frustration follow. Many assume the problem is them. It isnât.This programme resets that foundation.
The Digital-in-Health Innovator (Level 1) - Discovery aims to:đGive every role (clinical or non-clinical) the clarity they should have had from the startđExplain why digital tools (including AI) feel the way they dođShow that the logic behind âannoyingâ systems is understandableđBuild shared language and confidence around digital healthThis is not a technical course. Itâs a clarity course.
đAnyone working in hospitals, clinics, community care or social servicesđPeople supporting care: admin, operations, IT, scheduling, financeđTeam members who keep healthcare moving behind the scenesđAnyone who wants digital tools to feel less confusingNo technical background required.
No prior digital health training needed.
đ5 daily lessons delivered by emailđEach lesson takes around 5 - 7 minutes to go throughđStory-based explanations drawn from real work settingsđNo jargon, no pressure, no technical pre-requisitesđEmails stop automatically after the programme ends.
Each lesson explains one common misconception about digital health, using familiar stories from real-world settings.
đTechnology is only one part of change. Real transformation happens when people, workflows and policies shift.đWe unpack why projects that âgo liveâ donât always deliver change, and why thatâs not the fault of staff on the ground.
đYou can collect all the data in the world and still miss the story.đWe explore how context, workflows and people shape what data actually means, and why dashboards donât automatically lead to good decisions.
đPaper and PowerPoint describe workflows.đReal clinical environments follow human behaviour, workarounds and constraints.đWe look at the gap between policy and practice, and why systems crack there.
đAI is not a miracle. It needs good data, clear goals and responsible oversight.đWe talk about how AI sits on top of existing systems and what happens when the basics arenât in place.
đGoing fast without direction leads to rework, frustration and waste.đWe explore the tension between timelines, change fatigue and sustainable progress.
đUnderstand why digital tools often feel confusing or disconnected from realityđSee how real-world work shapes how systems behave and where they breakđRecognise the logic behind common frustrations with digital health toolsđDistinguish between good intentions and real outcomes in digital projectsđHold clearer, calmer conversations about digital health and change

What this course is (and isnât)đThis is not a technical course
đThere are no systems to learn
đNo tools to master
đNo right or wrong answersInstead, this course focuses on understanding - the kind that helps things finally make sense. Each lesson is built around familiar situations from real work, explained clearly and without jargon.

đEach lesson takes about 5â7 minutes to read
đYou can read it anytime, at your own pace
đThereâs nothing to submit and no homework
đYou donât need to reply to these emailsIf you miss a day, thatâs completely fine.
Just continue when it suits you.
How to get the most out of thisYou donât need to remember everything (everything is online). If nothing else, just read the key takeaway in each lesson.
That alone is enough.Everything else is optional (reflection, questions, or simply sitting with the idea). If you can invest the time to go deeper (highly recommended), your understanding will compound.
One important thing to knowIf something resonates, itâs not because youâre âbehind.âItâs because many people were never given a clear explanation in the first place.Thatâs what this programme is here to change.

More about judgment.
You donât need to do anything right now. When Level 2 opens, youâll receive the welcome with the start details + how to access it.

Here's a sample of what you'll received in the channel:1. Digital transformation is failing, and technology is to blame!2. The best solution isnât always the best choice.3. Why great processes still fail in digital health?4. Solving the wrong problem perfectly is still failure.

Levels 1 and 2 are designed to be complete in their own right. For colleagues within Singapore General Hospital (SGH) who are considering progression beyond Levels 1 and 2, the following may be helpful:Deeper professional capability (beyond awareness) is not typically developed through self-paced learning alone. It is cultivated in in-person environments where professionals engage in dialogue, apply judgement, and learn through shared practice. If progress beyond Level 1 & 2 aligns with your professional development and you are opened to in-person sessions - you are encouraged to register your interest âșïž
A Social Impact Initiative
Why itâs free
The Digital-in-Health Innovator series (Level 1 & Level 2) is free by design. It is created as a social impact initiative to support the health and social care workforce.Every role matters. Everyone deserves clarity. Knowledge shouldnât be locked behind jargon, complexity or paywalls. This is one way of giving back to the people who keep our care systems running.
About the creator
Hi, Iâm Dr. Adam Chee, an award winning (e.g. Microsoft Certified Professional Hall of Fame. HIMSS Future50 - Innovation Leader & HIMSS Changemaker in Health), practitioner professor who has spent decades bridging healthcare, people and technology. My work centres on one idea: digital health should serve people, not confuse them.As a pioneer in digital health transformation, Iâve spent over two decades helping governments, NGOs, startups and multinationals use data, technology and design to transform care models across Asia Pacific and the Middle East.Iâm also an AI Master Trainer for ASEAN, advise organisations such as WHO and APEC on digital health and health data, teach at various universities, and speak globally on digital health innovation and sustainable adoption. This programme is part of that commitment: making digital health understandable for everyone, not just those with technical training.
Where this came from
The Digital-in-Health Innovator series builds (mainly) on three earlier initiatives:
1) Mini-HIâą (Mini Health Informatician)đA specialized in-person program (2014 - 2020) across Singapore, Taiwan (China), Korea, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.đHelped professionals distinguish Health Informatics from Health IT, collaborate better, optimize clinical workflow, apply standards and use informatics to improve health outcomes.đSpin-offs included:â A localized Mini-HI offered exclusively via National University of Singapore (2015 to 2020)â Executive Certificate in Digital Health for SingHealth Polyclinics (2019)â Digital Health & Health Informatics offered via Nanyang Polytechnic (2019)â Health Informatics Jumpstart, an in-house course for Synapxe (2022 - 2023)Limitation: required time, budget and physical attendance.
2) RDHI (Rethinking Digital Health Innovation)đWeekly LinkedIn series (2025) demystifying digital transformation.đHighlighted that innovation goes beyond just IT or AI.đShared practical insights for cross-disciplinary collaboration.Limitation: LinkedIn isnât widely used by health professionals.
3) Error 404: Care Not Found©đWeekly comic series on LinkedIn (2025).đUsed humour and storytelling to surface real-world challenges of AI in health: data deluge, algorithmic bias, digital fatigue, governance, and more.Limitation: LinkedIn isnât widely used by health professionals.
The Digital-in-Health Innovator series takes the lessons from all three: high-impact content in a more accessible, email-based format, at no cost.
Short lessons. Clear explanations. No jargon.
